Placed For A Purpose

Mon, 01/03/2010 - 03:31

If you look at the history of the Jews we see time and time again that there was so many times when someone tried to kill off their race: Pharaoh in Egypt, the Babylonians, Haman, the Romans, the Germans, and all the various armies that tried to murder them all! But the Jews are God’s people and he has protected them every time!
We all know the story of how Esther saved the Jews from total annihilation, but do we really understand the gravity of what she did?

Haman was going to murder the entire race of Hebrews! It was really a personal vendetta against the Jews. Haman was a descendant from the line of Amalekites that King Saul had killed.
Esther understood what Haman’s plot would do to her people. It is important to realize the significance of Purim and how it plays a role in Jewish history. Haman was going to murder every Jew in Persia, which was probably 98% of the Jews in the world. The Jews had been brought to Persia in a conquest of which Xerxes had gone on. They had been living in Persia for such a long time that they were completely integrated into society and the decree that Haman orchestrated through the King to murder them included that whoever found a Jew and killed them, the murderer would obtain the Jew’s entire belongings.

Esther saved the entire Jewish race when she risked her life in going to Xerxes (which she did twice). If she had not been the Godly woman she was, and she kept her true identity a secret, there would not be a Jewish race at all!

Esther 4:14
For if you fail to speak up now, relief and deliverance will come to the Jews from a different direction; but you and your father’s family will perish. Who knows whether you didn’t come into your royal position precisely for such a time as this.

God used Esther to deliver His people. Why? Because she was open to what He wanted her to do! Esther is a perfect example of being open to what God wants from us and doing it no matter the cost to us! Who knows what your purpose will be when God calls you to do something!

“Where God places you…He has a purpose”

You could be in a specific place, like Esther was, for such a time as this!

Dance, Dance!

Mon, 22/02/2010 - 05:15

I have to say, I’m truly blessed with wonderful friends! I honestly am so thankful for everyone that God has brought into my life that I call a friend.

We had the Seven Sisters and Family over a couple weeks ago and we had a superbly wonderful time. We ate, laughed, danced, laughed, danced and laughed more! Just a really great time!
I got some videos  of the dances and *shockingly* they are blog material! :D So here is the Dixon Chicks and Dudes doing the Virginia Reel with the Seven Sisters.

Despite Cal-Eb’s size, everyone agrees he’s THE best VR partner. He knows the steps so well and its so fun to dance with him. :D He cracks me up!
It was even more wonderful to dance with the Seven Sisters than just ourselves AND we had live violin music courtesy of Leah! We had such a terrific time!
Anyway, we had a really great time and I hope we can do it again soon! Anyone else want to join in? haha!

Reubens

Sun, 14/02/2010 - 06:04

After seeing something about Reuben sandwiches on Mrs. Degenhart’s facebook… I got a hankering for them. So I did some research on Reubens and put the ingredients on my grocery list and headed off to the store to get them so we could have the delicious Reubens this week. I’m not sure delicious is a strong enough word for these sandwiches, y’all! Seriously these Reubens were like mouth watery! soo good! Doesn’t your mouth water just looking at it? Mine does!

Ingredients:

Rye Bread
Corned Beef
Muenster Cheese
Mayonnaise (you can use Thousand Island if you like that)
Sauerkraut
Butter
Iron Skillet

Directions:
Take your rye bread lightly butter one side, then on the other side put mayonnaise. Lather on as much as you can stand… mine was lightly. Then put the corned beef on the mayonnaised rye, then the sauerkraut, then the cheese. You can layer them as high as you want. Then spread mayonnaise on one side of the other slice of rye and put it on the sandwich. Butter the outside and put the whole sandwich in your hot iron skillet. Grill until the cheese melts and the rye becomes slightly brown.

That is totally it! Took me no time to make it and it was like phenomenal! :D

It’s kinda funny…  every time I hear “Reuben” I remember an old song I used to like and so I changed the lyrics to accommodate sandwich eating. The original goes: “Reuben, what does he thinkin’ he’s doin’?” and I changed it to “Reuben, its what I’m gonna be eatin’“. You have to hear the tune cause its hilarious… yes, I get a little crazy when there is food involved! shocking? nah ;)

So yeah… umm… they are really good and everyone should love them. :D

Don’t Give Up!

Sat, 06/02/2010 - 15:17

Galatians 6:9
So let us not grow weary of doing what is good; for if we don’t give up, we will in due time reap the harvest.

Sometimes it feels like we are facing the world and everything is wrong, but don’t grow weary… don’t give up! Keep holding on… cause you’re gonna make it through! You’ll make it through!

Looking At Doors

Sun, 31/01/2010 - 07:34

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.” ~ Helen Keller

I pray that I will see the other doors God opens for me and that I don’t just stand there staring at ones He shut for my benefit. Even if they aren’t ones I wanted shut. I know everything He does is for my good, because He loves me and wants my life to be a good one full of His will.
